I Walk - a poem

a poem about walking

I walk

I walk without a destination

to slow down the urgency of time

to take in the shape-shifting sky

to de-clutter the problems of the world

to free my heart from order

to give life to my dreams

to humble myself with the greatness of nature

to remind myself I am nature

to shake my fear of impermanence

to rid myself of excess

to feel gratitude

to feel history beneath my feet

to re-centre my soul

to stand in my authenticity

I walk and walk and walk until there's nothing left to say or to feel

no thoughts left concealed

and the incessant grip of capitalism loosens its noose

and when everything else has gone

there’s just stillness and contentment

this is when I feel most most alive
